FAR Architecture Center Shanghai is a platform that introduces new architecture and design solutions and acts as consultant for various international and governmental institutions. Its aim is to stimulate professional discussion on topics that are relevant for China, such as use of public space and sustainability. To involve the people that are dealing with these issues in China, FAR has been organizing a wide variety of activities in the field of design, such as events (Pecha Kucha Night), exhibitions (Dutch Design Expo), workshops (AA London Shanghai Summer School), education (Sino City Kids), competitions (Sino City Awards), publications (Shanghai Satellites) and excursions (Urban Tours). Latest project is the Dutch Design Workspace: a creative industry incubator opening its doors in 2010 in Shanghai to provide a soft landing base for Dutch designers that are starting their enterprises in China.
